3D

Recent years have seen the return of 3D into cinemas, but unlike 'old 3D' the current 3D is superb quality and projected by our big dollar NEC 2K digital projectors and servers. Our chosen 3D system is Panastereo, an 'active' 3D system that is widely regarded as providing the most effective 3D experience.

No, we use Panastereo 3D which is an 'active 3D' system as opposed to Real D's 'passive 3D'. As you enter the cinema for a 3D film, the usher will give you a pair of glasses to use for the movie and at the end of the movie you are required to hand them back to the usher at the cinema exit.

Panastereo 3D glasses cost around 30 times more than a pair of Real D's toy glasses, and this is why they are not thrown out at the end of each session. After use they are fully sanitised by a medical grade steam washer, then stacked for re-use. Panastero 3D is far more environmentally friendly than most other systems as we do not throw out literally hundreds of pairs like other systems require.

The way 3D movies are created is to have an image for the left eye, and another for the right eye. When you try and watch a 3D movie without the glasses you will see both images on top of each other, This is quite distracting and very hard to watch. Most big releases we will have in both 2D and in 3D.
